Fullerton, CA — Today Young Kim announced raising an additional $131,000 for her campaign to represent California’s 65th Assembly District. The report comes in addition to the $382,380 reported on the year-end campaign finance reports and an ending cash on hand total of $423,295. To date Kim has raised more than $513,000. The report is exceptional since the majority of Kim’s fundraising took place in about six months since officially announcing her campaign in October 2013.
“The campaign is going better than my best expectations,” said Kim. “Everywhere around the District I go, individuals are upset with the direction of our State government. I am humbled by the fact that they are investing in my campaign to get California back on track, not just with their pocket books, but by volunteering to help my campaign.”
The report keeps Young Kim on pace with her opponent Sharon Quirk-Silva who reported $451,656 cash on hand, a fact that is almost unheard of while running against an incumbent.
“This report shows voters are ready to make a change in the 65th District,” said Kim spokesperson Andre Levesque. “While Young Kim has been raising local money at a tremendous rate from the community, Quirk’s report is filled with donations from Sacramento politicians and special interests. These fundraising numbers provide a look into who Sharon Quirk-Silva will continue to be beholden to.”
Young Kim is a local small business-owner, and long time community leader in Orange County.
The 65th Assembly district is expected to be a top target for both parties in 2014. It includes all or parts of Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, La Palma, Fullerton and Stanton.
